FAQs

What is included in the course fee?

The course fee includes lifetime access to all lesson material, which includes 48 Full-HD video tutorials, around 105 pages of printable, downloadable course notes and training exercises, and over 135 high resolution sample photographs from my archives along with explanatory shooting data.

Are there any additional costs involved?

The price of the course is a one-off fee. There are no hidden costs or on-going charges.

How does the course work?

When you enrol we open an account for you, through which you have secure access to the course website via a unique Username and Password. When you access the website, all the material for your registered course is set out in an easy-to-access module-based structure. Each module includes a number of lessons and each lesson includes a video tutorial, PDF course notes and training exercises, and illustrative photographs with shooting information. Collectively, the course material provides everything you need to master your digital camera.

Is the course content generic?

Yes. The camera techniques and photo skills I cover are relevant to all areas, genres and styles of photography.

Is the course specific to a particular brand of camera?

No. Whether you shoot Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm, Sony, Olympus, Pentax, Leica, Hasselblad, Panasonic Lumix or another brand I haven’t mentioned, the techniques covered in the course are relevant to all brands and models of camera.

What sort of camera do I need?

The only prerequisites for your camera are a controllable shutter and an adjustable lens aperture. Other than that, any camera will be suitable for completing this course.

What devices can I access the course on?

You can access the course on any device, including desktop and laptop computer, android and tablet, using any browser.

Is there a time limit on accessing the course material?

There is no time limit on accessing the course material. Once you have enrolled you have lifetime access to all material included in the course, including new bonus material and updates.

How long will the course take to complete?

There is no specific time period for completing the course and because you have lifetime access, it can be completed at your own pace – as quickly or as slowly as you prefer.

Can I learn at my own pace?

Yes. Because you have lifetime access to the course material you can learn in your own time at your own pace.

Can I access lessons out of sequence?

Yes. While we recommend you follow the structure of the course, you are absolutely free to dip in and out of modules and lessons at any time. This enables you to skip information you may already know and return to information you want to revisit. It’s entirely your choice how and when you access the material provided.

Can I share the course with family members?

Once you have your Username and Password you are free to share it with family members so you can all enjoy participating in the course. Of course, we recommend you keep your Username and Password secure to ensure no-one accesses your account without your permission.

What level of photographic skill do I need to have?

This course is designed for all levels, from complete novice to advanced enthusiast. There is no pre-requisite for knowledge or skill base.

Is this course suitable for beginners?

Yes. The course takes you on a structured, easy-to-understand journey from setting your camera, through the main camera controls and photographic techniques, and gradually on to more advanced skills. Because the course is well structured, you can learn at your own pace, moving on to the advanced techniques only when you feel ready to do so.

I'm an advanced enthusiast, will I get something out of this course?

Yes. While parts of the course cover entry level skills and techniques, the course also deals with advanced topics suitable for more experienced photographers. Also, this course is the first in a trilogy and provides a solid knowledge base for moving onto Part 2 (Mastering Composition) and Part 3 (Mastering Creativity).

Do I need any specialist equipment?

No. A camera and lens are the only equipment you’ll need to complete the course.

Do I have to travel to complete the course?

No. In fact, we encourage you to maximise your time taking photographs by limiting the amount of time you have to travel. Often the very best subjects are close to home because they’re the ones we know most about.

What are the system requirements?

So long as you can access the internet, you will have access to the course.

I don't have access to a printer, is that a problem?
